Benefactors Doug and Sally Bailey believe strongly that supporting the growth of our nurses is truly an investment in the future of our community’s health. Thanks to their forward-thinking lead gift of $1 million to the Campaign for Nursing Excellence, we are able to provide our nurses with the training, tools, and technology to enhance their education and the ability to provide high-quality compassionate care for our patients. In honor of the Bailey’s transformational gift, the nursing education building on the Mease Dunedin Hospital campus will be named the Sally L. Bailey Nursing Education Center.
In order to maintain the extraordinary level of care our patients have come to expect support is needed to attract, educate, reward, recognize and retain our valued nurses. In fact, one of the primary goals of the campaign is to raise the support to fund a state-of-the-art simulation lab that will provide real-world scenarios to sharpen our nurses’ critical thinking skills and increase their confidence in various aspects of patient care.
Since our launch of the $2 million Campaign for Nursing Excellence in November 2017, members of our community and the Morton Plant Mease Health Care team have joined the Baileys in making gifts to fulfill these needs. Will you please join us in making a difference and exceeding this goal by making a gift today?
“Scholarships helped to make college and our careers possible, and we’re so grateful for the opportunities we were afforded. This is our way of paying it forward so others can benefit as we have.”
At the hospitals of Morton Plant Mease, the patient comes first in all we do. Every member of the health care team believes that caring for the individual patient and his or her family is at the heart of our mission and values. This is why it’s so important to invest in our nurses who are on the front lines of patient care and critical to patient outcomes.
Philanthropy helps our hospitals attract, reward, recognize and retain talented nurses, provide them the tools to enhance their learning, offer professional development programs, certification courses, research projects, and helps to distinguish our nurses as leaders.
Simulation technology has dramatically influenced the way nurses learn and care for patients.
Many nursing students struggle to transition from the classroom to the acute care setting.
Our students have full-time study with extensive clinical courses. Help us to bring bright candidates into the nursing profession that have a passion for nursing, but may not have the resources to achieve their educational aspirations.
Our nurses need the flexibility to pursue opportunities to engage in learning outside of their regular clinical responsibilities in order to develop innovative best practices.
In response to a critical shortage of faculty across nursing schools, which is leading to many qualified nursing applicants being turned away, philanthropy is needed to support faculty recruitment and retention.
